There are many reasons to visit Boringdon all year round but with winter coming to a close and the fresh, colourful signs of Spring starting to blossom, March has to be our favourite month at the ‘enchanted place on the hill’, and here’s why;
1.Boringdon is blooming
From glorious flowers to the sweet sound of birdsong, nature plays a significant part in making this time of year special at Boringdon. Head Gardener Anne tells us that we can look forward to seeing Snow Drops in the hedgerows, tulips and not forgetting the daffodils. With the spring flowers flourishing, there is more food for our Boringdon bees to forage on, meaning more luscious honey. Honey won’t be the only produce that will be growing on our grounds, our kales from the vegetable patch will be in season and ready for use in the kitchens.
2.Events in the local area
There are some great events happening nearby in March. Our city-meets-country-meets-coast location caters perfectly to guests who want to soak up beautiful Dartmoor, enjoy coastal walks on the nearby beaches or even go and see a show in the coastal city of Plymouth, just a 10-15-minute drive away. Just a few events happening nearby in March:
- 1st March to 11th March – Michael McIntyre at Plymouth Pavilions
- 21st to 24th March – Birmingham Royal Ballet’s The Sleeping Beauty at Theatre Royal Plymouth
- Wednesday 28th March – Russell Brand at Plymouth Pavilions
3.Our fun and fabulous Boringdon events
We’ll be hosting a collection of simply wonderful events for the whole family to enjoy. On Sunday 4th March, join us as we collaborate with local award-winning florist Hannah Burnett to bring you a Mother’s Day Flower Workshop where you will be taught the craft of flower arranging and will finish with a beautiful bouquet to give to mum. The following weekend (Mother’s Day weekend), they’ll be a fine selection of treats to spoil mum with, from lunch in the 3 AA Rosette Gallery Restaurant to one of our popular Boringdon Afternoon Teas. At the end of March, on Easter Weekend, we have more truly charming events planned which will include an Easter Egg Hunt and Easter Chocolate Making Workshop. We’re here to help you celebrate those very special days and moments with loved ones.
4.New Spring Menu
Mid-march will see Head Chef Scott Paton launch his new Spring time menu at the Gallery Restaurant. The menu, always changing with the seasons will use exciting seasonal produce and lighter dishes will start to take pride of place. Who knows, it might even be warm enough in to start enjoying lunches out on the lawn (we do hope)!
5.Gaia’s second spring time
Our multi award-winning Gaia Spa will be beginning Spring with our first signature Equinox Retreat, a four-day healing journey to help achieve inner balance and create desired life changes. The wild flower meadow will start coming to life and we will be preparing our outdoor patio area for the long summer days ahead.
