The Drake Circus shopping centre made a big splash when it opened in 2006 and has firmly established itself as an iconic covered shopping mall, offering locals and visitors the chance to shop in over 60 of the UK’s most well known stores. Explore the unique history of The Barbican
A Plymouth City Break wouldn’t be complete without a walk down the cobbled portside streets of The Barbican – Plymouth’s historic quarter. Featuring many independent retailers and specialist art galleries (the late Beryl Cook and Robert Lenckiewicz are just two of the local artists to have won global reputations), The Barbican is a real hub of activity. It is also the home of Plymouth Gin, one of the leading brands and a major tourist attraction in its own right. There are a selection of restaurants, cafes and bars beside the glorious quayside – many of which offer alfresco dining so that you can make the most of the views at any time of year!
