Myths and Legends of Dartmoor
The word Dartmoor conjures up many things to many people. Some think of quaint towns, ponies and cream teas, others picture vast wilderness and legends of old. If you’re one of the latter, Dartmoor is 368 sq miles of pure intrigue and allure.
For over 12,000 years man has hunted, farmed, mined and lived on and around Dartmoor leaving behind a wealth of history, archaeology and folklore. Legends are abundant and include evil sprites, pixies, haunted bogs and mires, the hound of the Baskervilles, Childe’s Tomb, ghostly legions, stone circles, undiscovered tunnels, witches and ghosts.
